Project Description

This project aimed to create a three to five-minute professionally recorded and edited explainer podcast that was well-organized on a topic that did not need visual support. The Lunar Vibes Podcast discusses the three significant placements in your birth chart. Many people do not know there is more to astrology beyond your sun sign. This episode is great if you are a beginner to astrology and want to learn the basics of your astrological makeup.

Design Tools:

  • Audacity

  • Studio Cardioid Condenser microphone

  • Pixabay music, Amber Sky by AleXZavesa

  • Canva, Lunar Vibes logo

Audio

This podcast was recorded and edited in Audacity using the Sudotack Studio Cardioid Condenser microphone. The Sudotack Studio Cardioid Condenser microphone was used to record the audio instead of using a laptop microphone to capture quality audio. Jones and Harris (2021) stated that condenser microphones “provide for greater fidelity in sound, which means the microphone can provide a recording that is very close to the original performance.” A pop filter was also used while recording to minimize popping sounds from hard consonants.

Music

The music used during the intro and outro is called Amber Sky by AleXZavesa on Pixabay.

Logo Design

The Lunar Vibes logo thumbnail was created in Canva.

Sharing and Accessibility

The podcast was exported as a .mp3 file to make sharing easier. A transcript was created in Word and made available for download for ADA compliance.

Reflection

This marked my first experience independently producing a podcast from beginning to completion, presenting a unique challenge in crafting a script that effectively communicated information without visual cues. To overcome this, I sought inspiration by listening to podcasts and studying their structures to refine my own.

Additionally, I ventured into new territory by creating a transcript for the podcast, leveraging research to ensure accuracy and coherence. I witnessed growth in my audio editing proficiency, leveraging my prior experience with Audacity to navigate the editing tools. I have continued developing these skills in other school and work projects.

Continued Learning

Recognizing the potential of podcasts as a learning tool, I am eager to deepen my expertise in creating podcasts. I plan to stay on top of industry trends and best practices through resources like Training Magazine and insights from other professionals producing podcasts. Moving forward, I want to enhance my skills by participating in relevant webinars and creating a comprehensive development plan dedicated to mastering podcast creation for the workplace.
